Week of December 18, 2023
Phonics: Phonics review work continues this week. We will work on Lessons #56-60. Students will bring home review work Monday-Thursday this week. The review work should be completed at home and returned to school. There is a test on Friday, December 22nd.
Reading: We will continue switching classes for Reading this week. We are reading books regarding story elements, such as setting, characters and problem/solution. We are also working on identifying the differences between fiction and non-fiction.

IXL: Your child has received their username and password. Students should be playing 15-20 minutes per week at the beginning of the year. . Students should visit IXL through the IXL website to make sure they are completing the diagnostic test questions. By completing the diagnostic, the questions presented are based on the child's appropriate learning level.
Math: Math review work will come home this week. We will work on Topic 6. Students will complete review sheets. Students will receive review work on Thursday that should be completed at home and returned to school. We will have a test on Topic 6 on Wednesday, December 20th.
Social Studies: We are discussing holidays around the world this week.
Spelling: Spelling continues this week. Students received Spelling Packet #9 on Friday, December 15th. It is due Friday, December 22nd. We also have a spelling test on Friday, December 22nd.
Science: TBA
Writing: Students are working on using capital letters, spacing, correct punctuation and proper handwriting.
Gym: Log on to www.gonoodle.com for different exercises, dances and calming activities.
Computers: Mrs. Harkonen, the computer teacher, has provided some websites to visit for 1st grade students.
